AT STRAFFORD SADDLERY: We listen to customer feedback and enjoy developing long-lasting relationships. We have deep gratitude to customers who support this local business and to better serve them we offer a rewards program as well as consignment area, now a new annex at the back of the shop
Debating the durability of blankets and the benefits of comfort crown bridles are part of our staff daily conversations. Therefore, we have a well-informed staff that love to ride! Drawing on our diverse background, we make decisions about what will best suit the form and function of our Vermont customer.
Annie Penfield
Having grown up foxhunting, I was well-prepared to jump into eventing in my teens. I now enjoy being able to ride and compete with my children.I have returned to the sport of eventing, last year riding one horse at Training level and moving the other up to Preliminary. As the owner of Strafford Saddlery, I have the opportunity to “test ride” all the products that come into the store, understanding the new innovations in the world of tack (there are many!). Competing informs my decisions regarding what to buy for a small tack shop that only has so much space. And in turn, the tack shop supports a family that loves to ride.

Lindsay Sweeney
After years of good rhythm and posture in hunt seat equitation, Lindsay wanted to explore life outside the ring and took up combined driving with fjord horses. In partnership with her farrier husband, she completed several combined driving events through New England. Pursuing her love of the fjord horse, she became an expert in the breed and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry and succeeded in developing the Breed Standard for the International Fjord Horse Association. She stood her own stallion, Solar, and produced a line of fjords that still reside in her pastures and other barns around the world. Forever exploring the versatility of the breed, she has sleighed, ski-joured her horses as well as ridden them sidesaddle, competitive trail and now she enjoys riding with her daughter . As the former owner of a feed store, she has taken her interest in nutrition and applied it to thoughtful purchasing of supplements at Strafford Saddlery.
